On Macintosh computers, when Auralia or Musition start, they check if the DLS synth is available for use. This can cause problems including crashes at startup.

You can easily disable the DLS Synth completely:

Find your ini file – it’s in the parent directory to the database folder
Open the file and add the line below in the [program] section
```
midi_mac_dls_synth=0
```
Save the file and open Auralia or Musition again
