Common Auralia 1.0 for Mac Problems and Solutions

Installation Problems

It has come to our attention that when dragging the 'Auralia' folder from the Auralia installation CD, some Macintosh computers report that 'The file cannot be copied onto itself'.

To resolve this issue, and install Auralia successfully, follow the instructions below:

  1. Create a new folder on your hard disk called 'Auralia Folder'. (We suggest the 'Applications' folder on your hard disk)
  2. Open the 'Auralia' folder on the CD.
  3. Drag all the files from the folder on the CD called 'Auralia' to the folder on your hard disk called 'Auralia Folder'.

Rhythms are not played evenly in exercises

This problem is usually resolved by updating to the latest version of Auralia for Macintosh, and also updating to the latest version of QuickTime.

No more than 10 workstations can concurrently connect when using Auralia

If you cannot manage to get more than 10 concurrent users using Auralia on your network, the problem will lie in your choice of file server for the Auralia databases. Workstation versions of Mac OS limit the number of other machines accessinsg them to 10. You will need to use dedicated server software such as Windows NT Server, Linux, or AppleShare.
