Configuring Auralia to use your General MIDI Synthesizer

Introduction

Auralia can be set up to output sound to a General MIDI synthesiser instead of the built-in QuickTime instruments. The following document describes how to do this.

Overview

The process involves three main steps:

  1. Installing the Open Music System (OMS)
  2. Configuring OMS for your MIDI setup
  3. Configuring QuickTime to work with OMS

System Requirements

  • A General MIDI synthesiser connected to your Macintosh with a MIDI interface. Some synthesisers have built-in MIDI interfaces and connect directly to the Macintosh.
  • An internet connection if you don’t have the OMS installer (not included on the Auralia CD).
