Auralia Bug List

All bugs listed here have been corrected at the time of writing.
This list was last updated on December 14, 1996.

Download an upgrade to the latest version of Auralia. The latest version is v1.51 dated December 14, 1996.

To identify which version of Auralia you currently have, check the date and time of your AURALIA.EXE file. If the time is 1:50am, you have version 1.50; if 1:51am, you have version 1.51. If you currently have version 1.50, we suggest you delete your AURALIA.INI and AURALIA.USE file (and also any test results, TEST*.RES) before using the upgraded version.

Chords

The same information was displayed for both augmented and diminished chords.

Chord Progressions

Chord Progressions was missing from the Info menu of the main screen.

Interval Recognition

The "Play Interval Together" option is not relevant to level 8 (melodies) so it has been removed.

Meter Recognition

During a test, once the maximum number of replays allowed had been heard in one question, no further replays were allowed in that topic for the rest of the test.

Rhythm Dictation

The "Play Answer" button was allowed during a test. "Play Answer" also played the sounds reversed to those in the question.

Rhythm Elements

Auralia will now play two beats of count-in (in quavers/eigth notes).

During a test, once the maximum number of replays allowed had been heard in one question, no further replays were allowed in that topic for the rest of the test.

Auralia Administration

If no tests were defined, selecting Statistics from the Tests menu would cause an error and General Protection Fault.

Selecting Activity Log under Options would cause an error if no activity log was present (because the log was not enabled or because it had just been refreshed).

General & Security

The Administration-only password was being truncated.

It was possible to load two copies of the administration program, and this created a small security hole in the main program.

Passwords were being stored incorrectly; some passwords would be accepted correctly when set but would not allow access to Auralia or Administration.

After completing a test, all topics would behave as if you were still testing, rather than practising.

Support for the American "whole note" vs European "semibreve" notation was added. The installation procedure will ask you which notation you wish to use. If you are upgrading without reinstalling (see below), you can set this option in Auralia Administration.

If the configuration file AURALIA.INI is missing or corrupt, Auralia will recreate it. (Previously only Auralia Administration could correct this.)

Your working directory setting in Program Manager (Windows 3.11) is no longer important. If you were running Auralia from another directory, for example using a batch file in Windows NT, Auralia would previously have trouble locating its files.
